Let LEDs Light Your Holiday

As you decorate your home this holiday season, be sure to choose light-emitting diode (LED) holiday lights. There are a variety of advantages to using LED lighting technology compared to standard incandescent holiday lights. LED lights are:

  • More energy efficient. They use up to 85% less energy than standard holiday lights.

  • Longer lasting. LED lights last up to 200,000 hours when used indoors and some manufacturers also provide a five-year warranty.

  • More convenient. They are available in 35 to 100-bulb strings in a variety of colors. Plus, if a bulb burns out, the other bulbs will stay lit for easy replacement.

  • Safer. LED lights produce almost no heat and do not have the same components that cause traditional lights to burn out or combust.

In an effort to continue to educate our customers on the efficient use of electricity, we are offering a string of LED (light emitting diode) holiday lights to our customers. The 70-count string of multi-colored lights will be available to the first 600 customers who present us with the coupon beginning November 13.

The LED technology is relatively new to the residential market. It has been used effectively in automobiles and exit signs for the past several years. As the LED technology is improved, it will be used more and more in our households.

The string of LED holiday lights offer many advantages over your existing holiday lights. A 50 to 100 count string of LED lights will cost approximately $.05 to operate during the holiday season (based on 150 hours of operation). This is approximately 15% of the cost of most sets of mini incandescent lights. The LED lights operate cool so they do not pose a safety hazard. Another major benefit is the LED technology has an estimated life of approximately 20,000 hours, so you should not have to replace strings of lights from year to year. So, stop by the SBU office with your coupon to pick up a string of LED holiday lights to see how you like them!

We are pleased that we have been able to serve the city of Sturgeon Bay and the surrounding area since 1904. We look forward to serving our customers for many years to come.
