Sturgeon Bay Utilities Announces New Partnership
Sturgeon Bay Utilities (SBU) has announced that as of August 1st, it has entered into a contractual agreement with Earth Tech, Inc. to provide maintenance, management and operational oversight to its water and wastewater utilities. The announcement came after the completion of an extensive search process that commenced in October 2005, and included the solicitation of bids from four highly qualified firms. Jim Stawicki, General Manager for SBU, states “it was important for us to seek out firms that are capable of continuing our tradition of operating this aspect of our Utility efficiently while maintaining our high standards for customer service. All of the contractors that we solicited met the stringent requirements that were outlined in our request for proposals. Earth Tech was able to provide the best overall package and we are excited about the opportunities that this new relationship will provide for the Utility and our customers.”
Earth Tech, a global provider of consulting, engineering and construction services, currently provides water and/or wastewater treatment operations and maintenance services throughout the Midwest, including in the cities of Stephenson, Mich.; Alpena, Mich.; and Bensenville, Ill.
“As a company, Earth Tech strives to go beyond the day-to-day operation of a facility to find ways to improve its overall performance,” said Keith Oldewurtel, senior vice president of Earth Tech’s North American Contract Operations. “With this new relationship, the beneficiaries of our commitment to excellence will be the Sturgeon Bay utility users, who will continue to receive high quality service at an affordable price.”
David English, Operations Manager for SBU, states “customers can rest assured that they will continue to receive the high level of service they’ve come to know and trust from SBU. Additionally, Earth Tech will bring a number of enhanced operating tools and a high level of experience and professionalism to our operation.” The staff members that will comprise Earth Tech’s labor force in Sturgeon Bay will remain substantially the same and include employees who boast over 120 years of industry experience. English further states “Earth Tech has hired a new Project Manager who will devote 100% of his time to our project. He will be supported by local staff members who have dedicated themselves to the success of our operation for a number of years. We are pleased that the vast majority of the staff will remain with Earth Tech when they commence their services as of August 1st. It was a priority for us that they be given that opportunity.”
