SBU to Host Public Power Week Event
Sturgeon Bay Utilities will join more than 2,000 other municipal-owned electric utilities in celebrating the 26th annual Public Power Week, Oct. 7-13. Sturgeon Bay residents are encouraged to visit SBU, located at 230 E. Vine Street, during Public Power Week to view exhibits displayed in the lobby, register for door prizes and enjoy some refreshments during normal business hours.
SBU and other locally owned, not-for-profit public power electric utilities collectively serve 46 million Americans.
“As a public power utility, we know our customers and can respond to their local needs. That’s been especially important during tough economic times,” said Jim Stawicki, General Manager at SBU.
Public power utilities work with residents, school and non-profit leaders, and business owners, offering incentives and programs to help customers with energy-efficient, money-saving projects.
“Our hometown focus allows us to keep money in the community, make decisions locally and encourage business growth,” said Stawicki. “Public Power Week is a time for us to recognize our customers and share with them all that we have to offer.”
