Celebrate Public Power Week!
Sturgeon Bay Utilities is celebrating the importance of public power Oct. 2-8, during Public Power Week, along with more than 2,000 other electric utilities that collectively provide electricity on a nonprofit basis to 46 million Americans.
Public Power Week honors SBU’s hometown service as a local resource for energy efficiency. As a public power community, we are locally-owned, customer-focused, and dedicated to helping customers save energy and money.
Public Power Week is a national, annual event sponsored in conjunction with the American Public Power Association, the national service organization for community and state-owned electric utilities. This year SBU is celebrating the 25th anniversary of Public Power Week by honoring the local control that allows the matching of local resources to meet local needs.
SBU invites our customers to stop in during Public Power Week for refreshments and to receive a pre-packaged energy kit. There will also be door prizes our customers may sign up for that include:
Throughout Public Power Week, SBU will be hosting a community-wide collection of non-food items to benefit Feed My People and Lakeshore CAP Services. Please help the community by bringing in one (or more) of the following items:
These organizations provide resources to our community members with limited financial means. Our customers are encouraged to donate to the drive, but it is not required for participating in the door prize drawings.
With more than 100 years of dedicated service, SBU provides service to 8900 electric and 4700 water customers in the Sturgeon Bay area.
