Power supplier offers Green-e Energy Certified renewable energy

WPPI Energy has been awarded Green-e Energy certification by the Center for Resource Solutions (CRS) for WPPI Energy's renewable energy programs, including Green Power for Business and its companion program for residential customers. Both programs enable customers to make voluntary purchases of renewable energy from WPPI Energy member utilities.

Green-e Energy is a renewable energy certification program established by the nonprofit CRS to provide an objective standard for consumers to compare renewable energy options. As the leading renewable energy certification and verification program in the United States, Green-e Energy guarantees the quality of the renewable energy used in certified products.

"WPPI Energy and its members have demonstrated a substantial leadership commitment to promoting the use of renewable energy," WPPI Energy President and CEO Roy Thilly said. "The fact that our programs meet the highest standards in the renewable energy industry is evidence of our dedication toward working together with our member utilities and their customers to build a better energy future."

Green-e Energy seeks to strengthen consumer confidence in the reliability of retail renewable energy products and bolster support for the development of new renewables. In addition, the program aims to expand the market for green power programs while ensuring transparency and accurate product information so consumers can make informed purchases.

"We are very pleased to announce that WPPI Energy is participating in Green-e Energy, offering certified renewable energy to all of their customers," said Green-e Program Analyst Andreas Karelas. "WPPI Energy is making it even easier for families and businesses to take action toward reducing their environmental footprint."

By purchasing WPPI Energy renewable electricity, customers will support currently available renewable resources as well as aid the development of new renewable resources. WPPI Energy's Green Power for Business and its companion program are sourced from a variety of renewable resources, including wind, biomass and water.
